Description:

Up for sale is a Preowned 2007 Gibson Melody Maker Single-Cut in Tobacco Sunburst, paired with its original Gibson gig bag (no hard case included). These mid-2000s Melody Makers are lightweight, resonant, and straightforward — a simple USA-made single-cut that’s easy to play and responds well to upgrades.

This one already has some major improvements with vintage correct 3-on-a-plate tuners and a Lollar dog-ear P-90. The tuner modification included dowel filling the original holes and redrilling for the spacing of the very attractive and functional vintage style tuners that are fitted currently. The mods were expertly done by Scott Baxendale (a near legendary luthier mostly known for his historic acoustic guitar conversions) while his shop was located in Athens, GA. So, you can trust that everything was done right!

The pickup swap also included an updated wiring harness, replacing the original melody maker single-coil setup that is often considered thin and weak. The Lollar brings out a fuller midrange, more dynamic response, and the classic P-90 clarity and grit that suits the Melody Maker platform extremely well.

Condition is very good. There are small dings and scratches scattered around the guitar, typical for a lightly gigged instrument of this age. The top has a couple of long "worming" impressions that do not break the finish but are visible in certain light. There are no major cracks or structural issues, and the guitar is sound and fully functional. The neck and frets are in excellent shape, and the upgraded electronics work perfectly.

The guitar has been fully inspected and set up in our shop: fresh strings installed, neck relief dialed in, frets polished, nut and action adjusted, and intonation set. It plays smoothly and delivers a much bigger, more expressive tone than a stock Melody Maker thanks to the Lollar P-90 upgrade.
