Line 6 POD Express Guitar Pedal Portable Guitar Amplifier Modeler, Cabinet Emulator, and Effects Processor

The Line 6 POD Express Guitar is an ultra-portable amp and effects processor built around models derived from Line 6's HX family. It combines seven guitar amplifier models, seven speaker cabinet models, 17 effects, a looper, tuner, noise gate, headphone output, stereo operation, and USB audio in a compact pedal that can run from three AA batteries or a standard pedalboard power supply.

The seven amp voices—Clean, Special, Chime, Dynamic, Crunch, Heavy, and Lead—cover a wide range of traditional and modern guitar sounds. Selecting an amp automatically loads a matching cabinet, while deeper editing through POD Express Edit lets you change cabinet models independently and adjust additional amp parameters. The amp and cab models come from the same HX modeling family used throughout Line 6's larger processors.

Four dedicated effects knobs give direct access to Distortion, Modulation, Delay, and Reverb categories. The 17 included effects cover Boost, Overdrive, Distortion, Fuzz, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Analog Delay, Digital Delay, Tape Echo, Ping Pong Delay, Spring Reverb, Hall Reverb, Plate Reverb, Space Reverb, and a one-switch Looper. Several of these are derived from familiar HX models based on classic pedals including the Klon Centaur, TS808 Tube Screamer, Keeley-modded Boss DS-1, Ram's Head Big Muff Pi, MXR Phase 90, MXR 117 Flanger, Boss DM-2, and Maestro Echoplex EP-3.

The simple top-panel layout is designed to work without menu diving. Turn the Amp encoder to select an amplifier, use the four effect knobs to select and adjust effects, and press ALT to access secondary amp controls including Gain, Mid, Bass, and other parameters. The seven-segment multicolor LED ring indicates amp selection, parameter values, and effect levels.

Two onboard footswitches handle bypass, preset selection, tap tempo, tuner access, and looper operation. POD Express Guitar provides 21 preset locations, and all 21 can be overwritten with your own sounds. An optional expression pedal can control volume, while the multifunction VOLUME | FS 3/4 input can alternatively accept one or two external footswitches for additional hands-free control.

Stereo L/Mono and Right outputs let you run into amplifiers, powered speakers, mixers, or recording equipment, while the 3.5mm stereo headphone output makes the POD Express especially useful for quiet practice. Modulation, delay, reverb, and looper effects can operate in stereo for wider direct and headphone sounds.

USB-C turns the POD Express into a portable audio interface for computers and compatible mobile devices, including support for re-amping. The free POD Express Edit software provides deeper model editing, preset management, global settings, independent cabinet selection, and access to additional parameters that aren't available directly from the pedal's physical controls.
