Line 6 HX One Guitar Multi-effects Floor Processor Pedal

The Line 6 HX One is a compact stereo effects processor designed to bring the extensive Helix/HX effects library to a traditional pedalboard. It provides more than 250 effects from the HX and legacy Line 6 families, covering distortion, fuzz, compression, EQ, modulation, delay, reverb, pitch shifting, filtering, synth effects, loopers, and more. Unlike a full multi-effects processor, HX One runs one effect model at a time, making it a practical way to add a large collection of specialty effects to an existing pedalboard without replacing the rest of your rig.

HX One draws from the effects libraries of the HX Effects, DL4, DM4, MM4, FM4, M13, M9, and M5 processors. Current firmware includes more than 250 models ranging from familiar overdrives, fuzzes, compressors, and modulation pedals to polyphonic pitch effects, dynamic reverbs, tape processing, filters, synth sounds, and multiple looper models. Most HX One effects process the signal in true stereo when both inputs and outputs are used.

Operation is straightforward. The Effect encoder browses the full model library and can jump directly between effect categories, while three parameter knobs control the settings shown on the high-contrast OLED display. Page buttons give access to additional parameters when a model has more than three controls, and HX One provides 128 preset locations for saving complete effect setups.

The dedicated Flux Controller is one of HX One's more unusual performance features. Hold the TAP/FLUX footswitch and multiple effect parameters can transition simultaneously between two programmed values over a user-adjustable period of time. This can create delay-feedback swells, pitch dives, modulation-rate changes, reverb blooms, and other movements that would normally require an expression pedal or several controls to be adjusted at once. Set the Flux transition time to zero and the same function can instantly toggle between two states of the selected effect.

HX One also includes adjustable analog input impedance, an always-available per-preset input noise gate, tap tempo, and switchable instrument- or line-level operation. The adjustable impedance is particularly useful with effects such as vintage-style fuzzes, where pickup loading can be an important part of the original circuit's response.

Stereo L/Mono and Right inputs and outputs make HX One easy to place in mono or stereo signal chains. The right input and output can alternatively be configured as a mono effects-loop Return and Send, allowing other pedals to be inserted into the HX One signal path. This also supports 4-cable-method configurations and lets HX One occupy different positions in a larger rig on a preset-by-preset basis.

For external control, HX One provides MIDI In and Out/Thru plus an EXP PEDAL | FS 3/4 jack. The pedal jack can accept an expression pedal, two external footswitches, or an expression pedal plus one footswitch. MIDI provides control over preset selection, effect parameters, bypass, Flux, looper functions, and MIDI Clock. USB-C adds USB MIDI along with preset backup/restore through HX One Librarian and firmware updates through Line 6 Central.
