JHS AT+ (Andy Timmons) Drive Pedal - Red

The JHS AT+ is Andy Timmons' signature overdrive/distortion, combining the complete drive circuit of the original AT with an independent footswitchable boost. The design grew out of Timmons' use of the JHS Angry Charlie beginning in 2013, when he worked with JHS to modify the circuit around his own lead and rhythm tones. The resulting AT was released as his signature pedal, and the AT+ expands that design without changing the sound or controls of the original drive channel.

The main drive section uses Volume, Drive, EQ, and Air controls along with a three-position wattage switch. Drive covers a wide range from higher-gain blues and rock sounds through heavily saturated distortion, while Volume provides plenty of available output. EQ works as a traditional bright/dark tone control, and Air functions more like an amplifier presence control, adding upper-frequency articulation and clarity.

The three-way toggle changes the feel, compression, and headroom of the drive circuit to simulate different amplifier wattages. The 25-watt setting provides the most compression and saturation with the lowest overall volume. The 50-watt setting balances compression with a more open response, while the 100-watt setting provides the most volume and open crunch with less compression.

The defining addition of the AT+ is its independent Boost channel. Rather than acting as a simple clean level increase after the distortion, the Boost is a slightly dirty pre-boost positioned to hit the front end of the AT drive circuit harder. Engage both sections for additional saturation and definition, or use the Boost independently to push an amplifier or another drive pedal.
