The Electro-Harmonix x JHS Lizard Queen is an analog octave fuzz born from a collaboration between JHS Pedals founder Josh Scott, artist Daniel Danger, and Electro-Harmonix. Originally conceived for the JHS Show as an imaginary lost EHX pedal from the 1970s, the production Lizard Queen was brought to life by Electro-Harmonix in a compact Nano enclosure while retaining Josh Scott's original transistor-based fuzz circuit and Daniel Danger's vintage-inspired graphics.
Rather than recreating a specific vintage EHX pedal, the Lizard Queen draws from the company's classic fuzz heritage and combines a fixed-gain transistor fuzz with a distinctive analog octave-up circuit. The fuzz responds directly to your instrument's volume control: full guitar volume pushes the circuit into its most saturated territory, while rolling back the guitar can clean up and reduce the amount of fuzz.
Volume controls the pedal's overall output, while Octave determines how much of the octave-up signal is blended into the fuzz. Turn Octave down for the core fuzz voice, or raise it for increasingly pronounced upper-octave harmonics ranging from clangy lead sounds to more extreme octave-fuzz textures.
The Balance control moves between two distinct tonal extremes. Shadow is darker, smoother, and more sustaining, while Sun is brighter, raspier, and more biting. The difference between the two becomes especially noticeable as the Octave control is increased, giving the Lizard Queen a wider range of textures than its simple three-knob layout might suggest.
