Descripton:
Very cool Martin B-1E acoustic bass in on consignment. This model was part of Martin's now discontinued "one series" instruments which were high quality, made in Nazareth, PA but with simpler appoinments to keep them at more accessible price points. There was a B-1 (no electronics) and a B-1E like this one that features an onboard Fishman Preamp to drive the undersaddle pickup.
This has a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, ebony fingerboard and ebony bridge. We've had several acoustic bass guitars come through the shop but this one really stands out. It has a really pleasing warm and woody tone both unplugged and through an amp. Currently strung with a set of Thomastik-Infeld strings that are phosphor bronze roundwound over a nylon core. They feel great, and give a very upright bass tonality to the instrument. The strings show some normal discoloration from use, but that never hurt any true bass player!
Comes with the original, green lined, Martin hardshell case.
Tested 100% fully functional. Very good condition overall. Top does show some playwear around the soundhole, but there aren't any serious dings or damage to speak of. Neck angle is great, frets are in great shape, and the truss rod works smoothly in each direction.
As always, this guitar has been treated to a deluxe setup here in the shop. That includes a full fret polish, setting neck relief / truss rod, dialing in nut slot height and string action, setting the pickup height and more! So, you can rest assured that it is playing its absolute best!
