EHX Oceans 11 Reverb Pedal

The Electro-Harmonix Oceans 11 packs 11 different reverb algorithms into a compact pedal, covering traditional Hall, Spring, and Plate sounds alongside reverse, shimmer, modulated, dynamic, pitch-shifted, and infinite ambient effects. Despite the simple four-knob layout, each algorithm includes additional mode and secondary-parameter controls that give the Oceans 11 considerably more range than a basic multi-reverb pedal.

The 11-position Reverb Type selector provides:

• HALL — Warm, spacious concert-hall-style reverb
• SPRING — Models the drip and response of a vintage 1962 Fender 6G15 tube spring reverb unit
• PLATE — Smooth, bright studio-style plate reverb
• REVRS — Reverse reverb that swells backward into each note
• ECHO — Digital delay feeding a plate reverb, with onboard tap tempo
• TREM — Hall reverb combined with tremolo
• MOD — Modulated reverb with chorus and flanger-style movement
• DYNA — Dynamic reverb with Swell, Gate, and Duck modes
• AUTO-INF — Automatically creates and crossfades between sustained infinite reverb washes as new notes and chords are detected
• SHIM — Octave-shifted shimmer reverb
• POLY — Polyphonic reverb with two independently configurable pitch-shifted voices

FX LVL adjusts the amount of reverb in the mix, TIME controls decay or another mode-specific timing parameter, and TONE shapes the reverb signal or performs another algorithm-specific function. The MODE button accesses alternate versions within several reverb types. For example, TREM offers Triangle, Square, and Sine waveforms; MOD provides Chorus, Flerb, and combined Chorus/Flerb modes; and DYNA offers Swell, Gate, and Duck responses.

A Secondary Knob Mode opens another layer of controls for every reverb algorithm without adding more physical knobs. Depending on the selected effect, these parameters include predelay and feedback, spring length and preamp drive, echo tone, modulation depth, trigger sensitivity, pitch intervals, and wet/shifted signal balance. Secondary settings are stored when changing reverb types and remain saved after the pedal is powered down.

The Spring algorithm goes beyond a basic spring simulation with selectable virtual spring lengths and adjustable preamp drive. A quick double-tap of the footswitch can even simulate physically kicking a spring-reverb tank, producing the familiar crashing spring sound of a bumped vintage reverb unit.

Most Oceans 11 algorithms also support Infinite Reverb. Hold the footswitch and the current reverb wash can be sustained while you continue playing over it with a fresh reverb signal. A dedicated Infinite jack accepts an external momentary footswitch for easier access to this function. The ECHO algorithm additionally uses the footswitch for tap tempo, with eighth-note, quarter-note, and dotted-eighth subdivisions available through the MODE button.

An internal Tails switch determines what happens when the effect is bypassed. With Tails enabled, the existing reverb continues to decay naturally while new playing remains dry. Switch Tails off and the reverb stops immediately when the pedal is bypassed.
