EHX Canyon Delay/Looper Pedal

available at

Low in-store inventory, may be subject to change.

The Electro-Harmonix Canyon is a compact multifunction delay and looper that packs ten distinct delay effects, up to three seconds of delay time, tap tempo, secondary parameter control, and a 62-second looper into a standard pedalboard-sized enclosure. The range covers straightforward digital echo, modulation, reverse and tape-style delays, pitch-shifted effects, a Deluxe Memory Man emulation, and more experimental sounds without requiring a larger multi-switch pedal. The 11-position Mode selector provides ten delay algorithms plus the dedicated Looper mode:

  • ECHO — Clean digital delay with repeats that retain the character of the original signal
  • MOD — Digital delay with adjustable modulation for chorus-like movement and warble
  • MULTI — Multi-tap delay with multiple constant-volume repeats
  • REVRS — Intelligent reverse delay that responds to your playing
  • DMM — Emulation of the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man analog delay, including modulated repeats
  • TAPE — Vintage tape-echo simulation with degradation, distortion, wow, and flutter
  • VERB — Delay combined with plate reverb; Feedback can be turned down for reverb-only sounds
  • OCT — Progressive octave delay that shifts each successive repeat upward
  • SHIM — Shimmer delay with octave-shifted ambient textures
  • S/H — Sample & Hold mode that detects notes and repeats them until another note is triggered
  • LOOP — Dedicated 62-second looper mode (ehx.com)

FX Level controls the amount of delayed signal, Delay adjusts time from 5ms up to three seconds, and Feedback controls the number of repeats. Most modes also include additional hidden parameters through Secondary Knob Mode, where the Delay and Feedback controls are reassigned to mode-specific functions such as modulation rate and depth, tape behavior, pitch settings, or other algorithm parameters. Those secondary settings are retained even after switching modes or removing power. (ehx.com)

Tap tempo can be entered with the onboard footswitch or through the dedicated Tap In jack using a compatible normally-open momentary switch. The Tap Divide button provides quarter-note, dotted-eighth, and eighth-note subdivisions, making it easy to move between straightforward rhythmic echoes and dotted-eighth delay patterns without manually calculating delay time. Looper mode provides up to 62 seconds of recording with indefinite overdubbing, Undo/Redo for the most recent overdub, and nonvolatile memory that retains the recorded loop after power is removed. The Feedback control takes on an additional function while overdubbing, setting how much of the previously recorded loop remains each time a new layer is added. (ehx.com)

An internal Tails switch determines what happens to existing echoes when the Canyon is bypassed. With Tails enabled, existing repeats continue to decay naturally while new playing remains dry. With Tails turned off, the repeats stop immediately when the pedal is bypassed. (ehx.com)
