Description:
Here is a beautiful example of a vintage 60's Gibson 12-string. This is a 1968 Gibson B-25-12 in natural finish. This came to us from the son of the original owner (alongside his matching 1968 J-45 which has already sold) in its original case and even with some old sheet music in the case. A time capsule instrument that has been well cared for and stored correctly. After a setup, this thing is beautiful and sounding incredible!
While late-60s B-25-12s are not exactly "rare", I don't think I've ever seen one with the Gibson radar/soundwave logo on the pickguard. That logo was unique to the 1968 model year, or thereabouts, but is most often seen on the J-45 and jumbo 6 string guitars from that era. So, that's a cool little detail that sets this example apart from the pack.
The headstock has a "2" stamped under the serial number, so perhaps a factory second. But, by this point, there's no evidence of any manufacturing or finish defects that we can find.
A very special guitar, and one of the few 60s Gibsons that normal folks and players can actually afford!
Tested 100% fully functional. Comes with original chipboard hard case. Excellent condition for its age, with very few marks from use. Top is flat, adjustable bridge works well, and the truss rod works as it should. Action is nice and low, and the bridge is still firmly affixed. All original as far as we can tell.
As always, this guitar has been treated to a brand new set of strings and a deluxe setup here in the shop. That includes a full fret polish, fingerboard conditioning, setting neck relief / truss rod, dialing in nut slot height and string action, setting the pickup height (if applicable) and more! So, you can rest assured that it is playing its absolute best!
