Drums / Percussion
Jason Abarca is a local homegrown drummer. Born in Atlanta and raised in Marietta, music has always been part of his life. When he was in middle school he got his first gig at a local church in Marietta. Unknown to him, the worship leader was a former studio musician from the Motown era. Under his tutelage, Jason was taught not just how to play but to feel the music and how the role of drummer was just more than tempo. He continued studying percussion at Lassiter high school. There he performed in multiple clinics, concerts, and competitions being pushed to pursue more. Jason then decided to join the Marine Corps after graduation and served for six years. During that time, music wasn't as accessible but he would always be out looking for a local place to sit in and play whether it was at the rec center, legion hall, or local spots.
Now back home he has been active in the music community, playing at local venues, theaters and restaurants, saying yes to any opportunity that he is considered for. Some opportunities have included sessions with artists from Nashville to a stage at the Vans Warp Tour. Jason continues to play because of his passion in music and pushes that message to all the people he performs with. He currently plays in a blues rock band, Mojohand, and supports local acts Tyler Lee Frush and The Bystander Effect.
