Violin / Cello / Guitar / Bass
James Blalock teaches strings and specializes in cello, double bass, and guitar. He has been a professional performer and teacher for over 20 years and has experience teaching K-12 as well as collegiate level students. His own musical training began at the age of 11. He holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in music performance from the University of Georgia and during his graduate studies, James was the recipient of a prestigious special artist full-assistantship. After completing his degrees, James taught cello and double bass at North Georgia State University and at Truett McConnell College.
James has performed in the southeast as an orchestral musician and as a soloist. He has performed as a substitute with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and performed annually for some time at Carnegie Hall with the ARCO Chamber Orchestra. He was a Brevard Festival Concerto Competition winner, a guest soloist with the Gainesville Symphony.
His musical performances have taken him to Europe, as well as South America where he taught briefly at the Escola de Niño’s in Santa Fe, Argentina. James enthusiastically encourages all music students with their musical pursuits regardless of their level and conveys his passion for musical expression with his pedagogy.
